JOINING HANDS FOR JUSTICE AT ARTISTS COLLECTIVE—SO MANY THANKS!
As we approach the completion of 2023, we find ourselves in a world torn apart by war, violence, and conflict. It is challenging to say the least. But hope is always there, and we can find it in the most amazing ways. It was certainly there at the JDPP Purple Party Fundraiser honoring International Human Rights Day at Artists Collective on December 8.
The dance, spoken word, song, personal testimonies, venue, and energy in the room all vibrantly affirmed the possibility that change CAN happen: beauty, love, community, and justice can grace our present and our future.
JDPP over these past almost 35 years has been doing all it can to bring beacons of light into this world through dance and the arts sparking the creative energy that brings us to the core of our common humanity.
As we conclude 2023, let’s continue to affirm and celebrate joining our hands together for justice— discovering the ways that we can with our hands and our hearts create a kinder, more compassionate, and more just world guided by the wisdom of the body and the understanding that we can and must work together. It is both a daunting and awesome task.
During this upcoming year we are going to offer ways for you to participate with us, to join hands in community to help move our communities forward. The Ensemble begins work on a new piece on book bans; the Bridging Boundaries programs and Moving Matters! program are going full steam ahead; a performance of Unmuting by Ensemble members and returning citizens hosted by Capital Community College will be presented Tuesday, February 27 at Christ Church Cathedral; and A Response and A Call has some amazing guests coming up in March. And there’s more coming up to engage you with us.
We are entering our 35th year in 2024 and we know it will be a memorable one. We will continue with you to make a difference, to open our voices and dance the dance of the change that we want to see and make it happen, one step at time. Please be sure to join us!
